Beamcomplex sells rice with a long shelf life. Long shelf life is ensured by processing rice with ionizing radiation and the use of packaging material that is insect-, moisture- and oxygen-proof and creates a quality guarantee for the entire shelf life.
SHELF LIFE OF RICE TREATED WITH IONIZING RADIATION
The shelf life of rice treated with ionizing radiation and stored in special packaging is up to 10 years. An important factor in ensuring long shelf life is to process rice as early as possible. The earlier the product is sterilized, the earlier the insect pest reproduction process stops, which will reduce the risk of contamination of rice with insect waste, the habitat of pathogenic microorganisms, and thereby extend its shelf life.
The shelf life of processed rice also depends on the following factors:
- The level of contamination of rice with pathogens, insects and their larvae before the process of ionizing radiation treatment.
- The characteristics of the packaging material (materials with an oxygen barrier provide the longest shelf life).
- The level of sterility of the storage facilities in which the products will be stored after their radiation treatment.
- Temperature conditions and humidity in the storage facilities.
Rice shelf life extension: in packaging that is only insect-proof – 5 years, in oxygen- and water-proof packaging – 7 years, in oxygen- and water-proof bags vacuumized with inert gas – 10+ years.
Beamcomplex also manufactures compact container-type complexes with electron accelerators for phytosanitary treatment of rice with ionizing radiation (E-beam/X-Ray).
Models of the complex and treatment options:
1) Beamcomplex С5.50E8 is designed for treating rice with accelerated electrons in one layer for further filling it into bags and big bags.
2) Beamcomplex С5.50P10 and Beamcomplex C5.100P11 are designed for treating rice with ionizing radiation in two modes — E-beam and X-Ray. These complexes allow treating rice in boxes, bags, bags on pallets, and big bags up to 2 mt.
BENEFITS OF USING A COMPLEX WITH THE TECHNOLOGY OF TREATING RICE WITH IONIZING RADIATION
Rice shelf life may be extended up to 10 years.
Complete elimination of insects, their larvae and pathogenic microorganisms in the treated rice.
Treated rice can be stored at temperatures up to 30°C.
Organoleptic properties of rice do not change.
No residual radiation.
