The 25th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was concluded in the port city of Tianjin on September 1. Chinese officials promoted this year’s SCO as the largest yet, saying ahead of the event that 20 leaders from across Asia and the Middle East would join. In addition to Russia, China and India, SCO members include Iran, Pakistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
At the summit, the leaders of Russia, China and India demonstrated unity, the media emphasize. Media outlets noted that the handshakes and smiles were among the most quoted and discussed images of the summit. According to WSJ, the tone of the statements by Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi was addressed to Washington, among others: Donald Trump’s efforts to distance New Delhi from Moscow and break the Moscow-Beijing link have not produced any noticeable effect. Delhi, like Beijing, has found itself in the focus of a White House tariff attack: in August, Trump announced the introduction of an additional 25 percent tariff on India in connection with its purchases of Russian oil, as a result of which the total tariff on Indian goods exported to the United States will reach 50, and called on his European allies to take a similar measure, but New Delhi has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to strategic autonomy and refused to stop importing Russian oil. Taken together, the visual sequence of the meeting and the statements looked like a united response to external pressure and attempts to force tough choices on India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a private meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin. The leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, including economic, financial, and energy sectors. The two leaders reaffirmed their support for further strengthening of the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Prime Minister conveyed to President Putin that he was looking forward to receiving him in India for the 23rd Annual Summit later this year: “1.4 billion Indians are eagerly awaiting” Putin’s visit.
The Indian economy continues to grow despite the problems that arise due to its strategic autonomy policy. “Just a few days ago, the GDP data for the first quarter of this year was released. India has once again surpassed all expectations and estimates. At a time when the global economy is struggling due to economic selfishness, India has achieved a growth of 7.8%,” the Indian Prime Minister said. India produces about 100 million tons of rice annually. Although there is enough food for the entire population of India, many families and especially children in India do not have access to food due to financial problems. Thus, millions of children in India are malnourished. Modi also stressed that reducing food wastage is an important area in realizing the goal of sustainable living. According to him, products should be designed in such a way as to minimize wastage.
Beamcomplex, as a manufacturing company, has all the production capacity for phytosanitary treatment of rice and specializes in the production of complexes with electron accelerators for food products sterilization with ionizing radiation (E-beam and X-Ray). Due to the fact that the equipment is seamlessly integrated into any technological process, it can also be installed at any operating facilities. Considering the growth of the Indian economy, it can be assumed that the authorities could easily solve the problem of food security of their country by installing equipment for phytosanitary treatment of food stocks with ionizing radiation at the reserve fund warehouses, thus extending the shelf life of products and ensuring the long-term independence of the country.
